Dr. Melissa K. Sigler, Optometrist, FAAO

Melissa Sigler O.D., a Lisbon native, is a graduate of Northern Illinois University's Bachelors of Science in Community Health program. Upon completion of her B.S., she chose to attend the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO); one of the world's leading urban optometric institutions serving the Chicagoland community for over 135 years. Throughout her academic career Melissa Sigler O.D. has particularly enjoyed providing vision care for infants and children, which led her to complete her residency in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at ICO. She graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry with a Doctorate in Optometry and has since been an active member of her community both as an Assistant Professor in the Pediatrics/Binocular Vision Department at the Illinois Eye Institute, providing clinical instruction to students and volunteering as the Clinical Director for the Special Olympics Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes Vision Health Program. She currently practices as an Optometric Physician at Brenart Eye Clinic in Yorkville, Illinois with an interest in Pediatric Primary Care and Vision Therapy. She has experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of strabismus, amblyopia, accommodative dysfunctions, and vergence dysfunctions. She also provides developmental testing, diagnosis, and therapy for visual perceptual deficits and oculomotor disorders. She received her fellowship in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision in 2007 from the American Academy of Optometry. Her strengths and interests include pediatric vision, vision therapy, travel to China for the Special Olympics, and spending time with her husband and two children in her Plainfield home.
