Samra W. Hashmi MD, Ophthalmologist

Board certified ophthalmologist and member of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Samra W. Hashmi specializes in intraocular lens implant surgery, corneal transplant surgery and refractive or laser vision corrective surgery for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Dr. Hashmi completed her residency in Ophthalmology, at the Medical College of Georgia in 2001. Prior to her residency she did a research fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York City. She went on to complete her Fellowship in Refractive Surgery and Cornea in 2003, at the premier Cole Eye Institute, Cleveland Clinic Foundation. 

Dr. Hashmi has been in private practice since 2004. She performs small incision cataract surgery with all the premium implants including toric and multi-focal implants using the current no-stitch, no-patch technique. She is one of the few fellowship trained surgeons performing laser vision correction / LASIK surgery in the area. She has performed thousands of surgeries over the years.

Samra Hashmi MD is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Hashmi has been active in ophthalmic research and participated in various FDA clinical trials.  Her work has been published in professional peer-reviewed medical journals and clinical textbooks.

In her free time Dr. Hashmi enjoys spending time with her husband Nashib, a nephrologist and their three children. She is active in the community and her hobbies include traveling and reading books.
