Michael Grassi MD, Ophthalmologist

Dr. Grassi attended University of Southern Indiana. He then attended Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Grassi served his Ophthalmology residency and his medical retina fellowship at University of Iowa. He is board certified from the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Grassi joined Retina Consultants after four years at the University of Chicago where he was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He was awarded a highly competitive Heed Foundation fellowship and received the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology research award. He is the recipient of the Genetics of Eye Disease New Investigator Award from the National Institutes of Health as well as an ARVO/Alcon early Career Clinician-Scientist Research Award. Dr. Grassi's clinical interests include caring for patients affected by retinal diseases like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and retinitis pigmentosa. Dr. Grassi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. He divides his time between caring for patients at Retina Consultants and directing the Retinal Chemical Genomics Laboratory at the University of Illinois Chicago.
